I don’t know what possessed me to do it, but about 30 minutes ago I purchased a ticket so I could go to the Ultimate Taste Test (UTT) 2014, a joint project by Our Awesome Planet and San Miguel Lifestyle Brews (in the background, Le Conscience mumbles G-L-U-T-T-O-N-Y).
This yearly food tasting event, which will will be held at the Rockwell Tent (Power Plant Mall, Makati) on Sept. 27, 2014 (this Saturday), is a magnet for food lovers, bloggers, critics, and curious onlookers as well as food companies that want to build a market presence for their upcoming products. This UTT affair, now on its 12th year and the 4th of the Rockwell UTT series, will feature tasty goodies from more than 50 home-based food businesses along with the mall’s own food establishments.
Ticket purchasers are entitled to scarf appetizing sample bites and will get to play food critic on this day — they will rate the food that they have tasted on a scale of 1 to 5 (where 1 = lowest, …, 5 = highest).
I got curious the first time I saw the poster ads. I thought it was a food contest of some sort (which, in a way, it is), but when I visited Anton Diaz‘s site and read about this event, suddenly everything looked bright and clear.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m doing all this in line with one of the raison d’etre why this blog was created (Treats and Treks) — under the circumstances, what else can I do but undertake research so I can write more legibly about those things that I consider “treats”. Really.
(Huh? What was that you said? Ah, shut up. Le Conscience smirks.)
In short, simple sentences — Buy a ticket. Go to the UTT event, and find lots of food. Eat whatever you like. Rate the goodies you eat.
Okay, that’s it. It’s a date. (Now my taste buds are stoked.)
